An essential element of any medium or large-scale content management system, the Enterprise E-Content Engine (E3) supplements content management servers and Web application servers with a broad and powerful set of functions for capturing, storing, retrieving, assembling, transforming and distributing content.

E3 is especially appropriate for high-value content, including pre-sales content (for product selection), post-sales content (for service and support) and for-sale content.

While content management systems serve as repositories for all types of content, E3 helps you gain the most leverage from your content by converting other word processing and desktop publishing formats to XML, assembling it according to individual needs, and automatically transforming it from a single source to multiple formats including Web, print and wireless. (And using Arbortext's Digital Media Publisher, you can publish to CD-ROM as well.)

E3 handles tough content jobs exceptionally well, such as applications where:

  • Multiple contributors in multiple departments and multiple locations use multiple tools to create and maintain content
  • Content must be tailored to multiple audiences and delivered in multiple forms: Web, print, CD-ROM, wireless

E3 does not require you to install and maintain a separate repository for your XML content. Instead, E3 integrates with your e-business infrastructure by working seamlessly with content management repositories with Arbortext partners such as Oracle, Documentum and others.

The combination of Epic Editor and E3 adds powerful capabilities to CMS systems:

  • Create XML content directly
  • Capture word processing and desktop publishing formats and convert to XML
  • Support content processing functions such as data merging, content assembly and personalization
  • Automatically format for multiple media: Web, print, CD-ROM and wireless devices

For almost two decades, companies around the world have relied on XyEnterprise to provide the key software element in the most sophisticated and automated publishing systems. That key element is XyEnterprise's XML Professional Publisher (XPP).

XML Professional Publisher is a high performance content formatting and publishing application that composes pages from XML source data and outputs high quality results in Postscript and PDF formats. XPP can also format other fielded data, such as database feeds, SGML, HTML, and other ASCII text to high-quality pages. XPP provides superior XML and typographic support combined with a level of speed, power and throughput that is unattainable in other publishing systems.

Typical users of XPP include software developers that produce large volumes of technical documentation, aerospace and other manufacturers that issue product and service manuals, legal publishers, and professional publishers who produce financial, scientific or medical journals, textbooks, catalogs, and loose-leaf publications. Increasingly, customers include publishers that offer publishing services to remote users for print-on-demand or hosted applications.

XPP will automate the composition of large volumes of data normally generated by companies that produce printed or PDF documents from an information repository of structured data (such as a content or document management system, database, or legacy system). An XPP system in action can turn XML and other encoded or structured data into fully formatted documents complete with complex tables, math equations, footnotes, tables of contents and indexes. In addition to printed pages, XPP will also produce Acrobat PDF documents or Web pages as part of its automated publishing capabilities.
